Stan Single, rest in peace

With huge sadness, we inform you of the passing of Stan Single. He suffered a heart attack.

Stan was president of the club in the 1980s including our 1983 team that made the grand final.

The BOBS were lucky enough to have been with Stan only two weeks prior at the reunion, where this photo was taken.

Keep safe BOBS.

BOBS Reunion

6 June 2026

What another great day for the BOBS. We had about 30 turn up to listen to dual Best & Fairest 85-year-old Bob Lane & Club Captain 81-year-old Bob Barnetson who both played in the 1960s for the Club.

Thanks for those who put money over the bar, for those for their stories and we had a tribute to those no longer with us from the past 12 months Steve Norman, Jason Fretwell and Chris Luscombe.

A huge loss for the Tiger family; Jason Fretwell, rest in peace brother.

Jason Fretwell, 200+ gamer and 2014 premiership winner has passed away.

There are a few of us in the club today that played closely with and knew Jason, and many Balmain Old Boys that speak highly of him.

Our Tiger family has lost a good one. Being part of this club means you can always lean on us whenever you need it.

Balmain Old Boys annual reunion

Theme: Life members

Saturday 19 July 2025 12.30pm - 5.00pm

Molly Malones - 64 Devonshire St Surrey Hills - right next to Central Station.

Hosted by Balmain life members Simon Kelly and Tom Watts.

All Players, partners and friends are invited. There is no entry cost, finger food is provided, just buy your own drinks. And of course the traditional raffle will be held.

We want to see as many of you as possible, catch up with older players and mates from bygone years.  If you know of any ex-players, do ask them to join.

For those attending their first event, make sure you get your BOBS card.

The crowd is increasing with a number of interstate and long-distance NSW guys attending.

We are all indebted to these two.
